We completed the 2022 Kiltwalk!

On Sunday 18th September, a team of 16 walkers – across 3 different routes – took on the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise funds for our 25th birthday!

We walked a combined total of 205 miles. This means that, including the very generous top-up from The Hunter Foundation, we’ve raised a total of £5596 to date! This means that, through this event alone, we’ve hit a brilliant 22% of our 25th Birthday target of £25,000!

Move On Staff Team

Of course, for starters, we sent along a Move On Staff Team to participate! Development Workers from our Edinburgh team Rebecca and Amy kilted up, along with Rebecca’s partner Euan. Our Executive Director and Founder John, meanwhile, sported a very…festive tartan cap. Our Marketing & Communications Manager Rachel even took on a very early morning journey – via 3 buses – to get through from Glasgow and join in!

The group completed the ultimate Mighty Stride challenge, at a whopping 22 miles! Setting off from Bingham Medway sharp at 9.30am, they took in a scenic route around the capital, including Portobello promenade, Gypsy Brae, and more! They crossed the finish line at Murrayfield stadium just after 4.30pm, meaning they made it round the course well within the average completion time of 6-10 hours. Although their feet were all a little sore, they were very glad to enjoy the selection of burgers, pasta and more on offer in the Kiltwalk Village after receiving their medals!

Between them, they raised a fantastic £3009 for Move On – which, with the very generous top-up from The Hunter Foundation, makes for a whopping £4514!

The Zurich Proclaimers!

Our wonderful sponsors Zurich Community Trust also got in on the action! They took on The Big Stroll, walking 13 miles to help us change lives.

The Zurich team found the day challenging, but a great experience overall! They’re aiming to take on the Mighty Stride at a future Kiltwalk – after a little more training perhaps! They made it round the route in excellent time, completing the course in just 4 hours. Having also come through from Glasgow to support us, they were tired but happy and well ready to head home!

Our Zurich Proclaimers raised an amazing £325 for us – £488 with the 50% top-up!

The Move On Mohammeds!

The brilliant Chair of our Board of Trustees, Ash, took on The Wee Wander – along with wife Shama, and daughter Sufia!

9-year-old Sufia is a regular face in Ash’s training efforts. She’s helped her Dad get in shape for event such as Tough Mudder in the past – all in aid of Move On of course! The family team – including our youngest walker – walked 4 miles together. They completed the course in just a couple of hours, a fab effort! Between them, they’ve raised an incredible £396 for us – £594 with the generous top-up from The Hunter Foundation!

Still Time To Support Us!

If you’d like to donate and support our intrepid Kiltwalkers after their challenge, there’s still time! You can sponsor the Move On Staff Team through our shared fundraising page, which will remain open until midnight on the 28th September 2022. All funds donated before this time will be eligible for the 50% top-up from The Hunter Foundation.

After that, you can donate to our total of £25,000 to help us change lives for another 25 years. It’s all going to the same place – every penny will be hugely appreciated, and will be put to fantastic use!
