Euan & Jordan’s story

We chat to Jordan and Euan, a mentor match in Glasgow. Both share the reasons why they got involved with our mentoring service, and the impact a couple of hours a week has made on their lives.

Teresa’s story

Teresa shares how being matched with a mentor through our mentoring service helped her increase her confidence and achieve her goal of going to college.

After suffering from extreme anxiety and struggling to leave the house, Teresa has now secured her dream role as a support worker for non-verbal adults with autism.

Declan’s story

Declan shares his journey from being referred to us as a service user, to volunteering as a mentor, before leading our employability training as a member of staff.

When we met Declan he struggled with extreme anxiety caused by a chaotic home life, but was inspired by meeting staff who faced similar issues and used their experiences to support other people.

Kai’s story

Kai gained SQA qualifications, manual handling training, his CSCS Green Labourer card, and practical work experience through our Building Brighter Futures course.

After completing the course, Kai secured a paid placement in our Move On Wood Recycling social enterprise, a hands-on position that gave him the opportunity to build on his confidence and employability skills.

Brooke’s story

Our employability training supported Brooke to increase her confidence, skills and ambitions for the future.

After completing the course, Brooke secured a paid placement at our FareShare Glasgow and the West of Scotland social enterprise, which will give her the opportunity to gain on-the-job training, help with her CV and interview practice, and support into lasting employment.
