Move On Executive Director John Hinton

After a 28-year tenure, the Executive Director of Move On, John Hinton, has announced his decision to resign, bringing about a significant transition for the organisation.

John has served as the Executive Director of Move On with distinction and dedication since founding the organisation in 1997, supporting numerous individuals in transforming their lives and realising their potential.

In accordance with his contractual obligations, John will step down on May 11, 2026. This decision, although a difficult one, given his longstanding association with Move On, will allow John to pursue new challenges and opportunities.

Reflecting on his time with Move On, John expressed gratitude towards the many board members and chairs he has worked with, specifically acknowledging the unwavering support of the current chairman and board.  Their encouragement has been instrumental in navigating hurdles and positioning Move On strongly for the future.

Since its humble beginnings in 1997, the organisation has grown exponentially under John’s leadership and has become a vital source of support, training, guidance and encouragement for thousands.

“I leave Move On in capable hands, with an active and engaged board, a remarkable and experienced staff team, and many committed volunteers who will continue to prioritise the needs of those who trust us to support them,” John stated. “It has been a privilege to play a big part in the Move On story, and I look back on my time with great pride.”

As Move On embarks on this new chapter, the organisation expresses deep appreciation for John’s exceptional service and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.

The search for a successor who will continue to uphold and advance the mission of Move On is anticipated to commence shortly.
