About Move On
Move On is a charity supporting vulnerable young people and people affected by homelessness. We provide mentoring and befriending services, employability courses and money and debt advice. We also operate two social enterprises – Move On Wood Recycling and FareShare Glasgow and West of Scotland – which provide real work experience settings for the people we support. Our purpose is to empower young people and those affected by homelessness to identify and achieve their goals and build better futures. Last year we supported 265 young people by matching them to a volunteer mentor, ran 600 advice workshops in schools and supported 115 people with their literacy and numeracy.
About Fundraising Advisory Forum
Fundraising Advisory Forum will offer guidance to the Move On Board on how to maximise fundraising streams within current capacity but also advise on what needs to happen to potentially develop new ones. We want to make sure the charity is doing the best it can and is able to maximise its impact in the years to come.
Aims and responsibilities
- To assess what is the current capacity for fundraising (corporate, individual giving and events) and support Move On to maximise these funding streams within current capacity
- To offer guidance on what would be most appropriate/effective
- To advise on what needs to happen to prepare Move On for fundraising investment, maximise future return and reduce risk (including money, leadership, culture, communications, strategy and systems)
About you
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals with backgrounds in fundraising who want to make a tangible difference to the work of a great charity. We welcome expressions of interest from people of all walks of life and career stages.
We are particularly interested to hear from people with backgrounds in corporate, major gifts, community/events or communications/marketing. If you don’t fit these categories but feel you have skills to contribute do get in touch!
Why get involved
It’s an interesting time to get involved as the charity is steadily growing – 1.5 mln income last year – and has recently received numerous awards. It’s also good professional and personal development opportunity – you will learn new skills, develop your network and eat lots of cake (optional)! Last but not least, your contribution will make a tangible difference to the work of the charity and people it supports.
We have a committed, friendly and passionate board and a wonderful staff team. We listen and are keen to learn from others!
Time commitment
The Advisory Forum will meet once a month, allowing regular feedback into the main Move On board. Some time will also be required outwith the meetings to perform agreed actions. Meetings will be held in Edinburgh but there is also an opportunity to contribute remotely and we are keen to hear from people regardless of their location.
