Move On provides RTITB accredited forklift training at our fully approved and accredited training centre based at 1070 South Street, Scotstoun, G14 0AP, for candidates who are looking to build their forklift operator career and get a forklift licence.

Once you’ve completed your forklift training we’re able to offer operational experience at our FareShare Glasgow and West of Scotland depot – at no extra cost. This real-life working experience is invaluable and allows candidates to improve and develop their skills. Novice Counterbalance Forklift Training
Overview
Our RTITB accredited Counterbalance Forklift Training course for beginner novice delivers a minimum of 32.5 hours of instruction. It is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 delegates, providing the skills needed to operate the forklift truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection & recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.
This course is for operators with little or no previous experience using a counterbalance forklift truck – the RTITB course complies with the standards set in accordance with the HSE Code of Practice L117. This also enables successful operators to use any counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK.
The Novice Counterbalance forklift training course consists of a classroom lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment. This is a 5-DAY course for beginners.
This course is suitable for:
- those with no prior experience of forklift truck operation
- anyone who wishes to achieve a nationally recognised operator qualification in the safe and correct use of counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity
- those who have good English literacy and language comprehension (the safe use of forklift trucks requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual)
Qualification
- At the end of the course, delegates will take a short multiple choice test. There are a number of safety critical questions that must be answered correctly in order to pass the examination.
- Once delegates have passed the theory test, they move onto the practical assessment where they will be tested on their ability to operate correctly and skilfully, but also without undue slowness, hesitancy or excessive speed. There are a number of exercises that must be completed such as stacking and de-stacking operations, reversing and accelerating.
- The cut off for the counterbalance forklift training practical assessment is 40 penalty points, however there are some circumstances where the delegate could be disqualified from completing the test such as violent collisions, operating dangerously, unsafe stacking or incurring more than three 5 point penalties in one area.
- Successful delegates will receive a certificate and Photo ID card accredited by RTITB which will be valid for a period of 3 years from the date of the course.

Successful delegates will gain a better understanding of current relevant legislation, best practice and refresh their skills and ability in the safe use of Counterbalance Forklift Trucks up to 5000kg capacity in line with current approved methods and manufacturer’s instructions.
The counterbalance forklift training course agenda includes:

- Starting, moving and stopping the truck

Semi Experienced Forklift Training
Overview
Our RTITB Semi Experienced Forklift Training Course in Counterbalance delivers a minimum of 19.5 hours of instruction. It’s designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 delegates, providing the skills needed to operate the fork lift truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection & recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.
This course is for existing operators with some previous experience of using a counterbalance forklift truck but have not received formal training – the RTITB course complies with the standards set in accordance with the HSE Code of Practice L117, and enables successful operators to use any counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK.
The Semi-Experienced forklift training counterbalance course consists of a classroom lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment. This is a 3-DAY course for existing operators.
This course is suitable for:
- those with prior experience of forklift truck operation

Forklift Counterbalance Conversion Training
Overview
Our RTITB Forklift Truck Operator Course – Conversion (Counterbalance) delivers a minimum of 13 hours of instruction over 2 days. It’s designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 delegates, providing the skills needed to operate the fork lift truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection & recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.
This is a conversion course for those who are currently licenced for a Reach and wish to add Counterbalance. The Forklift Conversion Training course consists of a classroom lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment. This is a 2-DAY course for existing operators.
This course is suitable for:
- those with an existing qualification in one category, this is a conversion course for those who are currently licenced for a Reach and wish to add Counterbalance.
- those who have good English literacy and language comprehension (the safe use of forklift trucks requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual)

Forklift Refresher Training
Overview
Our RTITB Forklift Refresher Course in Counterbalance delivers a minimum of 6.5 hours of instruction and is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 3 delegates, providing the skills needed to refresh their certification in order to operate fork lift trucks safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspections and recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.
This forklift refresher course is available for those operators with documentary evidence of formal training and who wish to renew their certification to use counterbalance forklift truck and will include theory instruction and assessment followed by practical operator training and assessment which will comply with the standard laid down in accordance with the HSE code of practice L117.
The Forklift Refresher Training course consists of a classroom lecture, DVD presentation, written assessment, practical training and assessment.
This course enables successful operators to use any counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK.
This course is suitable for:
- those with prior documented experience of forklift truck operation, who wish to refresh their qualification in the safe and correct use of counterbalance forklift up to a 5000 kg lifting capacity. The certification does not need to be in date to qualify to attend this course, and does not necessarily have to be a previous RTITB qualification.
- those who have good English literacy and language comprehension (the safe use of forklift trucks requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual)
