This week I attended the Scottish Mentoring Network’s annual conference in Edinburgh. It was a fantastic day with opportunities to learn from other mentoring services, discuss best practice and share ideas with others. The conference also included SMN’s annual recognition awards. Not only were two of our staff members recognised; with Kelly Roberts and Laura McKechnie receiving Highly Commended awards, but also two of our volunteer mentors; Kevin Porter and Alister Gray were awarded National Recognition Awards for mentors. To top it all Move On received the award for Mentoring Project of the Year.
I know that the success of Move On’s mentoring services is due to a combination of a committed and creative staff team and more than 100 inspirational volunteer mentors. Thanks to everyone involved – these are your awards.
